QR-Generator FAQ
Answers to common questions about instant and dynamic QR codes, stats, account features, and downloads.
If you are new to QR-Generator, this page is the quickest way to understand what you can share, when you need an account, and how to check scan activity after your code is printed.
What is a dynamic QR code?
It is a QR code you can print once and update later. For example, if you print it on a flyer and your website changes, you can point the code to the new address without printing new flyers.
What can I share with a QR code?
Three things: a website link or URL, a photo or image, or a PDF document like a menu, brochure, or event schedule.
Do I need to sign up to use this?
No. You can create a QR code right away without making an account. Signing up is only needed if you want extra features like editing the code later or managing several codes at once.
Why would I bother creating an account?
If you sign up, you can go back and change what your QR code points to whenever you like, even after it has already been printed and is in use. You can also see all your QR codes and their stats in one place and access them from any device.
How do I see how many people have scanned my QR code?
When you create your QR code, you get a special link called a stats URL. Just open that link in any browser, any time, to see how many people have scanned your code. No password needed.
What is a Stats ID?
It is a short code like GCLGBHG9 that acts like a reference number for your QR code. If you visit the stats page, you can type in this code to look up your scan activity.
What information can I see in the stats?
You can see how many times your QR code has been scanned in total, when it was last scanned, and a day-by-day breakdown of scans over the past two weeks.
Can I change the destination after the QR code is already printed?
Yes, but only if you had an account when you created it. Registered users can swap out the link or file whenever they want, and anyone who scans the old printed code will automatically be taken to the new destination.
What if I made my QR code without logging in? Can I still edit it?
Unfortunately, no. Guest-created codes cannot be edited after the fact. If you think you might want to update it later, it is worth creating a free account first.
What file can I download the QR code as?
You will get a PNG image file, the same kind of image you would use in a Word document, Canva, or send to a printer.
Who is this tool good for?
Really anyone who puts QR codes on physical things: a cafe printing table menus, a small business adding codes to packaging, an event organizer putting a schedule on a poster, or anyone running a promotion and wanting to know if people are actually scanning it.
Is the stats page public?
Yes. Anyone with the stats URL can view the scan activity for that QR code without logging in. That makes it easy to share results with teammates or clients.
How long do dynamic QR codes stay active?
Dynamic QR codes stay available while they are active. Inactive or unscanned codes and their related files may be removed after a period of time, so it is a good idea to keep important codes in use or backed up in your account.
Need a quick next step?
